During the City Council Work Session on May 16, 2016, Columbia Water & Light staff were directed by City Council to research a new transmission line route proposed by Mayor Brian Treece. Further advancement of the project continues to be on hold.
Electricity makes our world go.
Each morning, it’s what powers our toothbrushes, our toasters and our coffee machines.
And by powering our high-tech devices, it helps us stay entertained, informed and connected to the people we care about most.
So it’s not surprising that there are federal guidelines in place to make sure that everyone in our community has access to the electricity they need every day.
Moving forward together.
To address this growing need for safe, affordable and reliable electricity, the Columbia City Council approved the route for The Columbia Electric Transmission Line Project in 2013.
Goal:
The goal of this project is to upgrade and expand our electric transmission grid to better meet the energy needs of everyone in our community.
Built for you.
The Columbia Electric Transmission Line Project isn’t simply about building towers. It’s about providing safe, affordable and reliable electricity for everyone who calls Columbia home.
Keeping everyone informed and up-to-date.
We’ve created this website to be a helpful and handy resource for you, your family and everyone in our community.
